Odessa primarily relies on groundwater sources. The city obtains its water from wells that tap into the Floridan Aquifer, a significant underground limestone formation prevalent in Florida. This aquifer serves as one of the main sources of drinking water for the region.
Once the groundwater is extracted from these wells, it undergoes treatment before being distributed to Odessa’s residents through the local water distribution system.
Contaminants
The water sources for Odessa’s residences generally contain trace amounts of several different contaminants. To address this issue, local governments routinely test and provide reports on these. They are required to keep these levels below what is considered toxic, according to regulation.
