Where Does Fishhawk’s Water Come From?
An underground limestone formation called the Floridan Aquifer is the source of all groundwater pumped by the wells which is the main source of water across Hillsborough County. Another major source includes surfsce water. Surface water sources include the Alafia, Hillsborough rivers and Tampa Bypass Canal. Groundwater in this area contains high levels of tiny particles of crushed rock, which causes the water to be hard.
Contaminants
The water sources for Fishhawk residences generally contain trace amounts of several different contaminants. To address this issue, local governments routinely test and provide reports on these. They are required to keep these levels below what is considered toxic, according to regulation.
