Which Water Treatment System is the Best?

Happy woman cooking in kitchen

You asked — we answered. If you are here to know “which water treatment system is the best?” you are in the right place.

It’s a hot topic. Since we service St. Pete, Clearwater and Tampa and a total of five counties in Central Florida, we see this question a lot.

Let’s explore some of the different systems that are on the market.

Water Softeners

Water softeners have been in existence for over a century, significantly enhancing the quality of life for households grappling with hard water problems.

If you seek an expedient and cost-effective means to soften water, this option may be suitable for your needs.

These systems employ ion exchange, wherein sodium ions replace calcium and magnesium ions. Typically installed at the point of entry, they require professional installation and routine maintenance.

However, these systems demand substantial maintenance and do not possess water filtration capabilities.

In Central Florida, where hard water is prevalent, we have observed frequent system breakdowns within a year or two, particularly with budget-friendly filters from national brands.

Water Conditioners

These systems also utilize ion exchange for water softening. They comprise a tank filled with resin beads infused with sodium ions. As hard water flows through the resin bed, it captures calcium and magnesium ions, effectively replacing them with sodium ions. Water conditioners also include a carbon filter, which reduces chlorine and lead levels, making the water more suitable for consumption.

Water conditioners, which have two steps, are often referred to as whole home water systems.

On the downside, these systems remove the chlorine out of the drinking water, so often create a hotbed for bacterial growth. This requires frequent filter changes and system and home plumbing maintenance.

Reverse Osmosis (RO) Systems

RO systems are typically compact and installed beneath a specific sink or faucet. They efficiently eliminate various impurities, including minerals responsible for water hardness, by employing a filter to separate contaminants from the water.

Typically situated under a sink for high-quality drinking water, RO systems produce purified water suitable for cooking and washing fruits and vegetables. However, they are not designed to address hard water issues throughout the entire house, including their impact on plumbing and appliances.

RO systems are tailored to provide exceptional drinking water quality. If you aim to have the finest water for your home, consider complementing them with whole-home systems.

Whole Home Water Systems

This term encompasses any system designed to combat hard water issues for the entire household. These systems can be more sophisticated than water conditioners, although some companies use this term interchangeably with water conditioners.

Our most popular system is the Purity Bay 10-stage whole home water system. It provides more than 40 benefits, spanning environmental benefits, improved health outcomes, and economic advantages.

Using top quality components, the system addresses hard water and provides filtration without the bacteria created by other water filters.

Our commitment is to deliver the finest home water systems available in the market, enabling you and your family to enjoy the highest quality water in your everyday life.
