IMPACTS OF FLOODING (CLIMATE CHANGE) ON WATER

Excessive rainstorms and sea level increase will always increase flooding if we don’t deal with global warming. Some places and states are taking action to deal with environment change-related water issues, but many more have yet to begin.

2012’s flooding is part of the already felt impacts of global warming. Flooding has adverse effects on our water systems. From water sources pollution to damaging the water pipes, all these are effects of flooding. Floods do mix with sewage effluents and all waste products that are not properly disposed, and all these are contaminated with drinking water. Going to the facts, Hurricane Irene caused 45 deaths and nearly $ 10 billion in damage, much of it from damages caused by flooding.

There are solutions to deal with flooding and sea level increase. Firstly, we need our congress to stop neglecting global warming and start restricting contamination that is heating our planet and increasing the concentration of excessive weather.

All these effects come down to affecting our health, mainly through drinking water. The short-term recommendation is to have your drinking water pure all the time. This can be achieved by routine testing of your tap water to ensure that you drink safe water all the time. Some companies such as Purity Bay llc can do the test for you for free. They have the modern equipments for water purification.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) predicts climate change will increase the incidence of both extreme rainfall events and very hot summers in this country. the interdependencies in infrastructure as they are liable to lead to ‘cascade failure’ where the failure of one aspect of infrastructure, such as flood defences, can lead to other failures, e.g. flooded power stations leading to power cuts which thereby affect telecommunications networks.”.
